History
On the surface, it may not look different from any
other small Iowa town... but just stop and talk to the people. You
will not find a community in Iowa, or in the Midwest, where there
is a stronger sense of community, and sense of camaraderie prevails.
In 1995 the community received an Iowa All Star Community Award,
and in 1994 it was one of the top 5 communities in a nation wide
contest to be named "The Best Little Small Town In America."

Today
Garrison is a town where people work together for the common good
of the community. In the last ten years, citizens of the community
have pulled together and:
- Constructed and paid for a new Emergency Service building with
donated funds an labor, for all their volunteer fire-fighter and
first responders who regard themselves as nothing less than professionals
in their duty.
- Secured grants and administered the conversion of an old school
building into a ten unit retirement complex.
- Had major community wide fund-raisers for bereaved families
of the community.
- Raised through donations the necessary funds for a new fire
truck and first responder vehicle.
These are just a few of many projects completed by citizens in our
community. It's people who make the difference in life, it's people
who make the difference in a community, and it's people who make the
difference in... Garrison! |
